Palace Ca' Vendramin Calergi - VENICE CASINO

The old Serenissima Republic of Venice inaugurated in 1638 the first gaming house in the world, selected by Giacomo Casanova as a setting for his romantic conquests.
Ca' Vendramin Calergi hosted Richard Wagner at the time the great German composer was working on Parsifal. Wagner lived in the palace from 1882 to 1883, the year of his death there, on 13 February. Today, the wall facing the Grand Canal bears a memorial plaque to Wagner with a quotation by Gabriele D'Annunzio.
Today, the Venice Casino is uniquely famous around the world thanks to its history: the beautiful halls tell of glorious and splendid centuries that make the Ca’ Vendramin Calergi Palace so unique. Located on the Canal Grande, it was the first great Venetian Renaissance building.
Admission is allowed only to persons of majority age with valid form of identification. Ties are appreciated.
The Casino is open all year round (with the exception of December 24th and 25th).
