Museum of Eastern Art
Major sights in Venice
The Museum of Eastern Art (or Oriental Art), set in the ancient home of the Pesaro family in San Stae, represents one of the most important collections of Eastern art in Europe.
The museum is almost entirely based off the collection that Enrico di Borbone, Count of Bardi, acquired during his travels around the world, between 1887 and 1889. The pieces, that have recently undergone accurate restorations, come for the most part from Edo-period Japan (1600-1868), but Chinese and Indonesian objects can be seen as well.
Outstanding collection of Far Eastern objects d'art: Chinese vases, Japanese paintings, Indian sculpture.
The main facade overlooks the Canal Grande.
