The island of Carbonera is located in the North Lagoon, between the Marco Polo airport (Tessera) and the island of Murano.
It is a former Battery which was part of a defence line between Venice and the mainland of Mestre. Its buildings, with their well-defined geometrical lines and neat architectural appearance, and with their main frontage a few steps from the water, are not of historical and artistic interest.
