The Ottagono abbandonato is situated between the island Poveglia and the Alberoni. This island was fortified by the Republic of Venice during the war of Chioggia to defend Malamocco and Poveglia.
After being abandoned for a long time, it was auctioned in 1994, but immediately withdrawn due to its archaeological importance.
