The island of Tessera is situated in the Central Lagoon, between Murano and the town of Tessera on the Tessera Canal.
This island was fortified in the XIX century. At the beginning of the 20th century a radio telegraph station of the Marine Department was opened: the bottoms of the antennas can still be seen. The island is now privately owned, with orchards, gardens and a lovely villa with chapel.
